Sketches
I love the eye-hand coordination required in sketching people—the challenge of capturing someone’s posture or look often within a few strokes before they move or leave the space. In Phoenix I’d go to the zoo, the wildlife park and coffee shops and spend hours sketching people, animals and scenery. I’d always draw passengers on the bus to and from Arizona State University. Same thing when I moved to the Bay Area and took Caltrain to and from San Francisco for work.
Today I love going to Half Moon Bay to sketch on the beach. You usually have more time to spend on people and can get a better sense of their movements.
